The Magic Behind Sweet Magic

I relocated from California to Tennessee with my growing family in early June of 2022. When we arrived, my wife Carrie and I sought out services for our son Luke (who is special needs) by contacting various state representatives and senators in Tennessee. One of the senators put me in contact with Scott Maulsby, who is also a special needs parent. Scott helped to point our family in the right direction in regards to services for Luke. Scott and I ended up becoming great friends. I told him about the documentary I was embarking on one day while traveling to a “dads of special needs” meeting. Scott told me that I needed to meet his friend Rick Altizer who was also a documentary filmmaker. I checked out Rick’s work by watching the first of many his films titled, Show Me the Father (a Kendrick Brothers documentary). I was blown away! My wife Carrie and I were in tears. God spoke to me right there. I told Carrie that I needed to call Rick right away! So I did. He just so happened to live in the same city as me! Rick met with me and we exchanged stories. We immediately became friends (and until this very day we are great friends). Rick then put me in touch with his crew. Cinematographer Jon Melton & Dave Oglesby had worked on Show Me the Father while Ike Elgard (sound/audio guy) was a reference given to me by Jon. The work began. I am truly blessed! If it wasn’t for my son’s “Brittle Bone” condition, this opportunity would most-likely not have happened. I had no idea the path I was going on at first, but God revealed the blue prints of His plan after the fact. So now I’m sharing it with you, and we got some work to do!
